Product Review: Google Calendar

Piece of crap. No matter how you configure it, Google Calendar will NOT make alert sounds. (See both screenshots.)
Also, Google's documentation is crap, being out-of-date with respect to the current version of the product.
Unusable for even basic calendar needs.
Browsers Affected: Firefox 61, 62; Safari 11.1.2

• There is of course a trick, and Google hides the solution:
1. You must enable Google Calendar > Settings > General > Event settings > Desktop Notifications, AND
2. Sometimes — SOMETIMES — Firefox will remember to give you a popup, asking whether you would like to enable notifications. A tiny popup alert SOMETIMES appears at the left end of the location bar. You may also be able to set it in Firefox Prefs > search for Notifications > add "calendar.google.com" to the list. [091418]
Complaint: NECESSARY PREFS AND SETTINGS SHOULD NOT BE HIDDEN AS FUCKING "EASTER EGGS". They are to be documented and set up by default when the user installs Google Calendar. Walk the user through the setup steps, or your product sucks.
